VOLUNTEER GROUP STANDS UP FOR RT HON SAM IKON
Young professionals of Etinan Federal constituency have formed themselves into a pressure group called SAM IKON AMBASSADORS. According to the progenitor of the group, Comrade Oku Amos who is the southern Iman ward one PDP youth leader, the group came as a way of showing support to the Honorable MP, Rt Hon Sam Ikon and to spread the message of the MP's achievements in the federal house.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Honorable MP in his residence, Comrade Oku Amos, an astute youth mobilizer said their task is simple, that as the word " Ambassadors " implies, their job is to represent the MP and be his eyes in the grassroots and ensure that his Empowerment programm gets to the right class of people who are truly in need of these interventions. He added that during their village tour,they were able to feel the pulse of the people and could rightly relate their problems with the MP.
The immediate past Etinan students worldwide president informed the MP that they won't only praise him, but will also share the criticisms of the people as well as proffer solutions to ensure that the mandate of Etinan Federal constituency in the National Assembly is working effectively. He informed the MP that the group is replicated at Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubium LGAs with the same mandate to promote the Etinan Federal Constituency mandate.
He used the occasion to show support to the MP for the overwhelming empowerment program he did last year and solicited for more people oriented projects.
Also speaking, the vice chairman of the group, Comrade Uko Udofia appreciated the MP for finding time to meet with them under short notice and maintained that the group will stand by him against all odds having seen that he has affected the lives of people who are not able to sing his praises aloud. He added that the God that sees his efforts and work of love will recompense him abundantly.
Obong Etim Titus, the adviser of the group emphasised the need for the inclusion of those that actually laboured for the victory of the great party in the empowerment program committees to avoid the case of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Other executive members of the group aired their views on the way forward and promised to take the group to the next level.
In his reaction, the MP, Rt Hon Sam Ikon expressed appreciation to God for his mercies and for the grace to be in the meeting that has a great impact in his life. It is said that a prophet does not have honour in his town, but he was very excited to have sons and daughters of Iman, accord him the honour he received.
He assured to group of his continuous effective representation at the federal house and promised to draw more federal government agencies to do some developmental projects in the constituency.
On the issue of empowerment, the MP reiterated his commitment towards the self development of his constituents, stressing that is is better to teach people how to fish than to give them fish. He made it clear that the next phase of the empowerment will take a different dimension and will directly affect the people that worked for the success of the party.
He announced that online scholarship forms will soon be released for students in different higher institutions of learning to ensure that beneficiaries are selected strictly on merit as well as many other empowerment packages.
The group indeed is poised to seeing that the Etinan Federal constituency mandate is working effectively and with this step, they will succeed.
