36Km Super Highway Construction to Kick Off In Akwa Ibom

On an Inspection tour yesterday, the contractor handling the Ibom Super Highway, Ebla Construction Limited with it's foreign partner from China arrived Eket for the inspection tour of the project site. Leading a team of Chinese experts yesterday, the General Manager of Ebla Construction Limited, Mr Adeyomi Adedayo said that the company is ready to commence work as soon as the Ministry of Works hasten the release of the collateral instrument (ISPO).


Mr. Adedayo reiterated that Ebla Construction Limited are committed to execute the project with the best of construction. "We are here to work with the best of construction," he emphasized. The team of Chinese partner numbering about 10 were conducted along the highway alignment from the starting point stretching Eket, Ibeno and Esit Eket local government area to Uya Oron in Oron local government area cutting across Urue Offong connecting the Ibom Deep Seaport at Mbo local government area.

You can recall that the Ibom Super Highway contract was approved and awarded by Governor Udom Emmanuel in March this year, it is a 36.7 km 12 lanes ultra modern thoroughfare with six (6) lanes on either side of the divide, with four (4) lanes being medial speed lane will also have a toll gate. The other two (2) lanes on either side will be service exit to surrounding communities and will also have a rail track running through the length of the Super Highway.
                                                                                               
       

The first of its kind in this part of Nigeria, Ibom Super Highway is meant to enable the people of Akwa Ibom and investors alike to have access to the seashore where the Ibom Deep Seaport is cited. The project will not only serve as efficient source of internally generated revenue, it will also open up the vast horizon of Akwa Ibom serving as an evacuation corridor for goods and Personnel from the coastal industrial city and Seaport. It will also create job opportunities especially for the teeming youths as hundreds will be engaged during the construction phase of the project.
In the team for the site inspection was Ebla Construction PRO, Hon. Emmanuel Amos, community representaives for Esit Eket- Harrison Edoho,  Eket- John Inuaessiet,  Oron- Mr. Effiong and other youth leaders from the six local government area.
