Armed Robbers Attack Sterling Bank In Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

Multiple reports reaching us have it that Abak Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state was under siege as one of the banks was attacked by men of the underworld. As at the time of filing this report, one woman has already been shot by the armed robbers. The young woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet, as armed robbers attacked Sterling bank. The young woman was gunned down by Etekpe Filling Station, opposite Nkemba street



The incident occurred at about 4.30pm yesterday, with the gunmen shooting sporadically to scare away passers-by.

It is not clear yet whether the robbers were successful in carting away money.

The incident came few hours after Mr. Zubairu Muazu assumed duty as the new Commisoner of Police in Akwa Ibom State.

Rapid response officers and men of the NPF have reportedly arrived the scene.

The area is totally locked down...

On an Inspection tour yesterday, the contractor handling the Ibom Super Highway, Ebla Construction Limited with it's foreign partner from China arrived Eket for the inspection tour of the project site. Leading a team of Chinese experts yesterday, the General Manager of Ebla Construction Limited, Mr Adeyomi Adedayo said that the company is ready to commence work as soon as the Ministry of Works hasten the release o f the collateral instrument (ISPO).
