By Kapnim Akpabio The CRRT/Renal Transplant Training Workshop organised by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Medicals, Dr. Ignatius Akpabio entered its second day. The first session started with a training tagged "Setting Up a Renal Transplant Unit"  - Kidney Transplantation in Developing countries and strategies to develop Kidney transplantation in Akwa Ibom State” by by Prof. Arogundade, a Professor of medicine and consultant, Dialysis & Transplantation with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile ife.

Governor Udom Emmanuel disclosed that arrangements have been concluded for the establishment of tomato processing factory in the state. He stated this while on an inspection tour of the facility. Mr. Emmanuel who made the disclosure in Uyo, while on inspection tour of food crops and vegetable green houses set up by  the State Government said the tomatoes harvested from the green houses and other parts of the state will serve as raw material for the factory. Emmanuel said  his administration was embarking on various agricultural initiatives with  a view to crashing food prices  in the state.

On an Inspection tour yesterday, the contractor handling the Ibom Super Highway, Ebla Construction Limited with it's foreign partner from China arrived Eket for the inspection tour of the project site. Leading a team of Chinese experts yesterday, the General Manager of Ebla Construction Limited, Mr Adeyomi Adedayo said that the company is ready to commence work as soon as the Ministry of Works hasten the release o f the collateral instrument (ISPO).

As part of activities to mark its 30th anniversary of creation, His Excellency the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, ably led by God has declared a one -day state fast on Friday September 1, 2017. The fasting is to afford all Akwa Ibom people the opportunity to seek the face of God and open doors for more of God’s blessing upon our state at 30. With the theme, "Shine for thy light is come...(Isa 60:1), this year's anniversary is epochal, considering that thirty years is a very significant time in God’s scheme of things. The heaven was opened for Jesus at the age of 30 during his baptism and there he also received a Divine endowment from the Father.

The decision by Justice Abdulaziz Anka of a Lagos Federal High Court on Wednesday ordered that the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans against the Nigeria Police Force will proceed. He gave the ruling while dismissing the objections of counsel to the Nigeria Police Force, Emmanuel Eze, during proceedings in Evans’ N300m suit. The judge agreed with Counsel to Evans, Olukoya Ogungbeje that service on the first and second respondents in the case had been properly effected.

Governor Udom Emmanuel within the week awarded contracts for the construction of 12 new roads construction projects across the three senatorial districts of Akwa Ibom State . Fielding reports from newsmen, the State Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang disclosed that even with the shortfall in revenue, Governor Emmanuel has awarded more development projects with economic values and has also mobilised Contractors to sites.

The Senate has voted to remove the compulsory National Youth Service Scheme from the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is good news for many young Nigerians, however it doesn’t mean that NYSC is now not compulsory for university leavers.

Nigerian Senate on Wednesday approved independent candidature for the country’s electoral process. The approval on Wednesday was part of the ongoing amendment of the 1999 constitution.

Minimum qualification shall be Senior School Certificate or its equivalent. (iii.) Evidence of payment to the Commission a non-refundable processing fee of; 150,000.00 for Chairmen, 100,000.00 for Vice Chairmen, 50,000.00 for Councillors.

Multiple reports reaching us have it that Abak Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state was under siege as one of the banks was attacked by men of the underworld. As at the time of filing this report, one woman has already been shot by the armed robbers. The young woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet, as armed robbers attacked Sterling bank. Boko Haram is a deadly Islamic Terrorist Organisation that has caused havoc on Northern Nigeria. It was have gathered that the Islamist sect, Boko Haram has established an FM radio station broadcasting on 96.8 frequency modulation. The radio station which broadcasts in Hausa propagates its kind of Islam and calls for recruitment of more members to join in the service of Allah. The radio station which had a small bandwidth is heavily believed to have expanded its bandwidth with funds gotten from the Federal Government after the controversial release of Chibok Girls which was rumored to have involved cash payment as ransom.
